[Zinc Prices Fall Back From Highs: How Is Downstream Consumption Performing?] Zinc consumption overall remained relatively stable during the week. Galvanizing operating rates slightly declined, primarily due to the drop in ferrous metals prices and the gradual completion of winter projects in northern regions. Additionally, environmental protection-driven production restrictions in areas such as Shandong, Henan, and Anhui also contributed to the slight decline in operating rates.

SMM, December 20:

Overall zinc consumption remained relatively stable during the week. The operating rate of galvanizing producers slightly declined, mainly due to the drop in ferrous metals prices and the gradual completion of winter projects in northern regions, as well as the impact of environmental protection-driven production restrictions in Shandong, Henan, Anhui, and other areas. Overall operating rates slightly decreased. The operating rates of die-casting and zinc oxide producers slightly increased, primarily driven by lower zinc prices, along with improved orders for luggage and clothing zippers. However, feed orders weakened, resulting in relatively small changes in overall operating rates.
